Giving birth to your baby will definitely be a hard climb, but it will also bring the most precious reward. It will take everything you’ve got and you will rise to the challenge!
When one climbs a mountain, they need fuel; nourishment and energy. And when they come down after that climb, they reach for the refreshing sip of a crisp cold beverage. There's nothing quite like it! Appalachian Doulas IS that sip. We refresh and refuel our clients through every step of the journey through birth.
Sometimes that “sip” comes in the form of emotional support. Sometimes, it is a hands-on physical technique that eases pain. And sometimes it is the education behind the benefits, risks and alternatives to something that presents along the way.
This is YOUR birth experience and it should be everything YOU want it to be.
Have you decided it will be with an obstetrician? A midwife? Completely natural? With the support of an epidural? You are making big decisions for the birth you desire and we have the knowledge and experience to help you achieve them!
Your Prenatal Visit
The prenatal visit is an opportunity to plan the birth of your dreams. Your doula will talk you through options and scenarios that may present themselves throughout your labor. Her insight will help you discover your preferences for each step of the laboring process. Bond with your partner and doula as you curate your ideal birth plan.
Our On Call Period
Take comfort in knowing that you can reach out to your doula at any point in time once you've engaged our services. No question is too big or too small. Don't sweat the small stuff, the luxury of having your doula being just a phone call, text or email away, will ease your anxieties throughout the remainder of your pregnancy.
Your Birth Support
It's go time, your baby is on their way! You call your doula and they hurry to meet you at home or at the hospital. Your doula will support you physically, mentally and emotionally throughout your labor. She will provide you with breathing techniques, massage, counter pressure and so much more to instill comfort and strength during your labor.
Your Postpartum Follow Up
Now that you are settling in at home and adjusting to your new norm, it's time for your postpartum follow up. At this meeting, your doula will answer your questions, offer a bit of wisdom on topics you may be struggling with, and show you some tricks for infant soothing as you wrap up your labor and birth journey together.
